The goal of RDM
Optimization Assessment is twofold: identify deviations or
inefficiencies from best practices and industry standards and
recommend appropriate actions to help an organization's
requirement's process conform to building quality requirements.
The first part
of the engagement is the Kickoff meeting of key stakeholders of
the requirements management team. PE will review and validate
the customer expectations and ensure the service engagement
meets those goals. PE will then meet one on one with managers or
leads such as requirements manager, business analyst, project
leaders and any staff identified as a key stakeholder.
Stakeholders will be expected to discuss topics covering
eliciting, linking, tracing, documenting, training, tracking,
analyzing and managing requirements. In addition, stakeholders
will provide pre-identified artifacts necessary to conduct the
interviews. Stakeholders may be asked to complete questionnaires
prior to the Kickoff meetings. This phase of the engagement is
to document and understand the current 'as is' requirements process
today. The duration of the one-on-one stakeholder interviews is
about takes two full business days.
In the second part of the engagement, PE
uses strategies to compile information into written reports or
summaries to identify the gap between the current “as is”
configuration process and the more
optimized process. This fit-gap report will do two things:
identify deviations or inefficiencies from best practices and
industry standards and recommend appropriate actions to help an
organization's requirement's process conform to building quality
requirements. The report will incorporate interview notes,
observations, details, explanations, examples and draws
conclusions from relationships and patterns that emerge from
data and use appropriate visual aids and media to communicate
its results.
