FDD Workshop Series

FDD03: UML, Color Modeling and the Domain Neutral Component

Overview

Jeff DeLucca has said, “If you’re not doing color modeling, it ain’t FDD.” The very first of the listed best practices is domain modeling. This workshop concentrates on helping you improve your modeling skills. Through a series of hands-on exercises, you will look in-depth at the four archetypes of the domain neutral component. You will also learn to include other UML diagrams such as sequence diagrams, activity diagrams and use case diagrams.

Workshop Format

All Process Exchange workshops use the amplified learning technique pioneered by Peter Coad. Using a combination of lecture snippets and hands-on exercises participants quickly begin to learn the subject matter at hand.

Working in feature teams, participants will experience the power of collaboration while working together to model the business solution using; Class Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams, Activity Diagrams and Use Case Diagrams.

Workshop Objectives

After attending this workshop, participants should be ready to be more comfortable modeling the business domain. The student will learn about:

  • Modeling Class Diagrams
  • The Domain Neutral Component (DNC)
  • Some Business Applications of the DNC
  • Modeling Sequence Diagrams
  • Modeling Activity Diagrams
  • Modeling Use Case Diagrams
