Michael Hugos
CIO at Large
Michael Hugos is a principal at the Center for
Systems Innovation. He is also a regular columnist
in Computerworld and CIO magazine, and his books
include: Essentials of Supply Chain
Management and CIO Best Practices: Enabling
Strategic Value with Information Technology, both
published by John Wiley & Sons. He is a sought-after
speaker at business and IT industry conferences.
For six years Mr. Hugos was Chief Information Officer
with Network Services Company, an $8 billion
national distribution cooperative. He guided
the company through the development and rollout of
a suite of Internet based e-business and supply
chain systems that changed their business model
from old-line distributor to value added provider
of products and supply chain services. In 2003
and 2005 he was awarded the CIO 100 award by CIO
Magazine for this work, and in 2006 he was awarded
the Premier 100 award by Computerworld for career
achievement.
Prior to joining Network Services, Mr. Hugos was a Practice
Director in the Supply Chain Management practice
of Covansys, Inc., a publicly traded global IT
services firm. Earlier in his career he was a
founder and Principal in the information technology and
management consulting firm of Effective Systems,
Inc. He went on to become the Director of Systems
Planning & Development for a $3 billion distributor
of electronic and communications products, Anixter
International.
Mr. Hugos’ undergraduate degree is in
architecture and urban planning from the University
of Cincinnati. He earned his MBA from Northwestern
University's Kellogg School of Management with a joint
major in finance and management information systems.
